Cordray, White win nominations from banking committee

The Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday confirmed the nomination of Richard Cordray to direct the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and Mary Jo White to lead the Securities and Exchange Commission. White won approval with a vote of 21-1, but all Republicans rejected Cordray, who won by 12-10 vote. Cordray faces a much tougher road in the full Senate, which has not yet scheduled a vote on his nomination.
