FDA blood products panel supports molecular immunohematology test

The FDA's Blood Products Advisory Committee has recommended the approval of Immucor's molecular immunohematology test for clinical use. The HEA Molecular BeadChip product can safely and effectively be used to type human erythrocyte antigen phenotypes in 35 blood group systems, the panel said. The test is used in the U.S. for research and has processed more than 700,000 assays worldwide.
