Playing a guitar solo with a backing band is harder than playing those same notes on your own because you suddenly have to listen and adapt to your bandmates, writes David Silverman. Similarly, during a presentation, you have to "listen" to the audience and adjust your delivery to their responses and reactions. "What are you saying, what are others saying, and what is each of you hearing? The first two parts of the question seem simple enough, but it's the combination of all three that actually matters," Silverman writes.
