HCV can be handled in primary care practice, physician says

Primary care physicians can have confidence in their ability to treat patients with hepatitis C, said Keith Sigal, M.D., of Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. The primary care physician shared his experiences at the International Conference on Viral Hepatitis 2014. He said treating HCV in a primary care setting "does require a bit of extra help" through the use of patient navigators who help people manage what can be a complex diagnostic and treatment regimen.
