MAPI sees factory output as "frustratingly inconsistent"

February's manufacturing production figures showed improvement after a downturn in January, moving up 0.8% to an index reading of 97.2. There is still much room for improvement, according to Cliff Waldman, senior economist with MAPI. Factory output continues to be "moderate at best and frustratingly inconsistent," he said, adding that manufacturing industry data related to construction and housing are "disturbingly weak."
