Cable, telecoms stop fighting citywide Wi-Fi

Cable and telephone companies, hoping to protect the revenue they derive from Internet services, have been vocal opponents of municipalities that sought to roll out citywide Wi-Fi services. But companies such as Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable and AT&T Inc. have changed their tunes and have begun bidding to provide such services.
