Charter school network to add 34 Houston schools

Houston's well-known national charter school network unveiled a $100 million plan to grow to 42 charter schools with 21,000 students, up from the current 1,700 students at The Knowledge is Power Program's eight area schools. That should give KIPP ample enrollment to prove whether its success at preparing some of the country's poorest students for college is just a fluke, advocates said.
