North Carolina weighing extra pay for some teachers

Math, science and perhaps special-ed and urban-school teachers could see a bump in pay under a proposal being considered by North Carolina legislators. The state tried such a measure once before, but the $1,800 extra offered to math, science and special education teachers at high-poverty schools came too late to affect recruiting.
