Budget airlines consider charges for extra services

Southwest, JetBlue, AirTran and other low-cost carriers are seeking ways to boost revenue and considering charging for in-flight food, onboard Wi-Fi and other services and products. Arne Haak, chief financial officer of AirTran, estimated that baggage fees and other ancillary revenue will amount to $300 million for the airline this year.
