National medical residency match day is largest ever

The National Resident Matching Program had its largest Match Day ever on Thursday, with 15,638 U.S. medical school seniors being assigned to a residency program. About 1% fewer students chose internal medicine for the second year in a row. Neurological surgery, orthopedic surgery and otolaryngology were the most competitive specialties.
