Silt could protect Bangladesh from rising sea level

Bangladesh is experimenting with using silt from the rivers that flow down from the Himalayas to create new land off its coast, and to fill shallow areas prone to flooding. Bengali engineers hope channeling silt will help protect Bangladesh from the rising sea levels caused by climate change. However, critics say the new land is too muddy to be habitable, and note that floods from the Himalayas could wash it away in one season.
