Can the right classroom environment help students learn?

Several South Carolina teachers say they have decorated their classrooms with students in mind -- creating comfortable, stimulating spaces where students can learn. High-school teacher Steve Jobe has covered his entire classroom -- even the ceiling tiles -- with historical images, including magazine clippings and album covers. Fourth-grade teacher Marisa Neumann says she uses soothing music, stuffed animals and a "book nook," to create a relaxed, homey environment for students.
