Fed nominees discuss views of the economy, Dodd-Frank

Federal Reserve Board of Governors nominees Jerome Powell and Jeremy Stein appeared for confirmation before the Senate banking committee. Both said a key challenge ahead is shifting Fed policy without risking the recovery or spurring inflation. Mr. Powell said the Fed's implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act should minimize harm to credit availability and the economy. Mr. Stein said most new rules would not focus on community banks.
