CRC screening rate may be rising in D.C. area

The Washington, D.C., area has the highest U.S. mortality rate from colorectal cancer along with low screening rates, data show. Dr. John Marshall, director of the Ruesch Center for the Cure of Gastrointestinal Cancers at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, said there are signs, however, things are changing as more people are getting screened for CRC, and efforts to raise awareness are increasing, especially during Colon Cancer Awareness Month.
