Minn. teachers focus on bridging the racial achievement gap

Educators in Minnesota, where students who are non-white typically lag behind their white peers, are taking a proactive approach to bridge the achievement gap by learning to be "culturally responsive." The program, supported by St. Mary's University of Minnesota, focuses on helping educators develop lessons that are more culturally relevant to students. Under one example, teachers were encouraged to use music and movement in lessons to help reach students who learn in different ways.
