The identification of four "high-speed rail waves" across the globe could streamline and hasten the adoption of high-speed rail systems in the U.S., according to a report co-authored by Andrew Goetz and Anthony Perl. Meanwhile, the California High-Speed Rail Authority reached an agreement with the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board for rail upgrades between San Francisco and San Jose, Calif., which supports Caltrain's $1.45 billion modernization initiative.
