Many U.S. women don't recognize stroke symptoms

Researchers surveyed 1,205 women about their knowledge of stroke and found that 51% of them were able to recognize sudden weakness or numbness of the face or limb on one side as symptoms of stroke. Stroke awareness was particularly low among Hispanic women, including identifying loss of or difficulty speaking or understanding speech as a symptom, according to the study in the journal Stroke.
