Opinion: Evolution debate clouded by misused terms

In an opinion piece, author Steve Olson says creationists who dismiss evolution as a "theory" cleverly invoke the term's more common definition as an "untested idea" or "hunch," rather than referring to theories as "scientific concepts that have been so thoroughly tested that they are very unlikely to change." Rather than suppress discussion of creationism, scientists, Olson argues, should likewise choose their words carefully and continue the debate, even if the effort, at times, seems interminable and thankless.
