FDA proposes new conflict-of-interest rules for advisers

The FDA released draft guidelines that propose barring medical experts from particular agency advisory panels if they have more than $50,000 in ties to the drug and medical device companies affected by the matter being considered by the panel. The FDA also intends to "generally limit" experts' participation in panels in cases where there may be "a perception of a conflict of interest."
