Senate panel to address identity theft

The Senate Judiciary Committee's subcommittee on terrorism, technology and homeland security will consider the consumer protection issues related to identity theft at a hearing today. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has proposed a bill that would require companies to reveal when they have experienced a data breach. Another bill would establish criminal penalties for the misuse of Social Security numbers.
