Shire files suit to protect Adderall patent

U.K. drugmaker Shire PLC filed suit against Colony Pharmaceuticals, Actavis and an Actavis subsidiary, claiming infringement on Shire's patent for the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder drug Adderall. According to Shire, Colony announced in November 2004 that it would produce a generic version before the patent expired. The lawsuit was filed when Colony filed an abbreviated new drug application for a generic version.
