Inflation has less effect on high-calorie food prices

Inflation is less likely to affect prices of calorie-dense foods, meaning it will be harder for low-income families to adapt healthy diets. A recent two-year study found that high-calorie food prices decreased 1.8% while low-calorie food prices increased 19.5%.
