5 amino acids may help predict type 2 diabetes

A study in Nature Medicine found that elevated levels of five amino acids -- isoleucine, leucine, valine, tyrosine and phenylalanine -- helped predict type 2 diabetes in healthy adults up to 10 years before symptoms appeared. Experts said an early test could aid in diabetes prevention, diagnosis and management.
