Pediatrics is a popular choice for U.S. medical students

The nonprofit National Resident Matching Program reported placing more than 16,000 U.S. medical students in 26,000 residency programs, with the number of those placed in family medicine positions increasing by 11% from 2010. Specialties that were popular among medical students include pediatrics, internal medicine and emergency medicine.
