USDA provides 31.8 million school lunches daily

The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides free or reduced-price lunches to 31.8 million children each day -- about 66% of school lunches served, according to William "Bill" Ludwig, regional administrator of the USDA's Food and Nutrition Service's Southwest Region. In this interview, he said he plans to meet with New Mexico state officials later this year to discuss school meal program improvements, ways to expand summer meal programs and late-afternoon meal programs for students who stay after school.
