ICU blood tests can be reduced safely, study suggests

Doctors at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, British Columbia, said reducing blood tests routinely conducted on ICU patients by 10% or more did not have a negative effect on patients. Mortality rates and hospital stays did not significantly differ between patients tested less frequently and a control group. The hospital reduced its annual tests by 2,220.
