Philadelphia to fund life sciences, health care startups

The city of Philadelphia will fund early-stage life sciences and health IT projects through a $500,000 investment from the city's Industrial Development Corporation's Penn Venture Fund to the University City Science Center's QED Program, a multi-institutional proof-of-concept program for life sciences and health care technology. The QED program funds up to four projects in each project round, and the PIDC will fund five project rounds with $100,000 each round, beginning in 2014.
