Regulators caution against a return to leveraged lending

Regulators issued updated high-risk lending guidelines for banks and emphasized the importance of banks not allowing their lending practices to slip. "While leveraged lending declined during the crisis, volumes have since increased and prudent underwriting practices have deteriorated," the Federal Reserve Board, Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said in a statement.
