Survey: Most Americans are against plans to boost oil, gas taxes

Seventy-four percent of registered voters in an American Petroleum Institute survey oppose proposals to raise taxes on oil and natural gas companies. Such tax increases would lead to job and revenue losses and stifle development, said Stephen Comstock, API's director of tax policy. "Singling out the American oil and gas industry won't solve problems," he said.
