Carbon nanotubes seen as key to faster computing

Researchers have discovered that using carbon nanotube connections with silicon in computer chips could boost computer speed versus traditional silicon-metal connections. Northeastern University researchers found that light-induced electrical currents rise more sharply with a nanotube-silicon connection. "That sharp rise helps us design devices that can be turned on and off using light," said Swastik Kar, assistant professor of physics.
