New initiative looks to support women business founders

A newly launched initiative known as Soar is designed to support women entrepreneurs and address some of the obstacles that may be getting in their way. The initiative, which is led by a team in Durham, N.C., will focus on providing mentoring to women founders and helping them gain access to funding sources. "There was a lot of data pointing to the fact that women just aren't on a level playing field," said Lauren Whitehurst, one of the consultants leading the project.
