Iowa panel advocates minimum school district sizes

Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack endorsed a special committee's controversial school plan that calls for the creation of an education commission to study school district and high school size and recommend minimum levels by 2007. Vilsack noted that if more high schools with fewer than 200 students reorganized, their districts could apply the savings to teacher salaries, tech purchases and additional course offerings.
