Antibiotic mix helps achieve remission in UC patients

Treatment with a combination of the antibiotics amoxicillin, tetracycline and metronidazole in addition to regular medication helps ulcerative colitis patients achieve and maintain disease remission, Japanese researchers said. The study in The American Journal of Gastroenterology showed the response rate for patients getting the antibiotic combo was nearly double that of patients who had taken a placebo.
