Chevron turns former refinery site into solar-testing site

Oil giant Chevron is turning a former refinery site into a testing ground for new photovoltaic technologies. The company plans to install 7,700 solar panels drawing on seven solar technologies and plans to select one of the technology systems to power its operations around the world. The company expects to spend $2 billion during the next two years on renewable-energy research, officials said.
