Hypoglycemia raises mortality risk for ICU patients

A study of almost 5,000 critical care patients found those with hypoglycemia had a death rate of 36.6%, compared with 19.7% for those who did not. Researchers said technologies such as continuous glucose monitoring in the ICU may help prevent hypoglycemia or identify it earlier.
