Nielsen: Social-network usage is on the rise internationally

Consumers across the globe added an average of two hours to the time they spent on social networks last month, compared with the same period last year, according to new research from Nielsen. Marketers see the potential for reaching customers through social media, says a separate set of data -- 80% of marketers use the medium now or have plans to do so.
