Stanford views engineering through wider lens

Stanford's engineering school, which is ranked second in the nation, is looking for engineering students comfortable with multiple disciplines. "We're looking for kids who think of the world in terms of finding solutions to big problems, like global warming, international development, the environment," said James Plummer, dean of the School of Engineering.
