In tough times, owners don't skimp on pets

The pet industry has grown during the recession, with spending expected to reach $47.7 billion in 2010, up 16% since the economic downturn began in December 2007. "As times have gotten tough and scary for people, pets are where people find comfort and solace," said APPA President Bob Vetere.
