Tool to aid accelerated bridge construction to undergo beta testing

A tool kit for accelerated bridge construction -- which includes standardized plans for modular components, construction specifications, erection concepts and more -- could soon be available. It will be beta tested in Vermont, which hopes to use ABC techniques to replace the state's 17 hurricane-damaged bridges. The sample plans -- which are customizable -- have span lengths of as much as 130 feet and "use concrete-on-steel beams, concrete-bulb tees with precast decks and concrete double-T systems."
