Starbucks has big plans for China

Starbucks operates about 800 cafes in China, with plans to expand to 1,500 in 70 cities in the next two years, staying optimistic about its prospects even as rivals including Costa Coffee and Pacific Coffee mount their own expansion plans. "It's no doubt that one day China will become our second-largest market after the US and it's possible that, over many years, potentially the largest one," said CEO Howard Schultz at the company's annual shareholder meeting this week.
