IRS updates guidance to allow electronic signatures on Form 8879

Following last week's announcement by the Internal Revenue Service that it would allow taxpayers to electronically sign Form 8878 in certain circumstances, the AICPA raised the issue with them that Form 8879, the e-file signature authorization form, should also be included in the expanded electronic signature guidance. The IRS has now revised the Publication 1345 to include Form 8879.
