Many high schoolers stymied by math

As high schools become more rigorous, many observers believe educators will have to find new ways to help students, particularly low-achieving ones, master math. While experts agree that math teachers need better preparation, the research -- which has tended to focus on reading -- has not yet conclusively determined what constitutes good math instruction.
