Detroit teachers hold sickout over pay cuts

About a quarter of Detroit's 6,543 teachers unexpectedly called in sick Wednesday in an apparent protest after receiving the first in a series of smaller paychecks. The district is docking one day's pay every two weeks through May to ease a budget crisis, although it promises to repay the money next year.
