U.S. hotel fees expected to rise 7% in 2006

Fees and surcharges in the U.S. lodging industry should increase 7% from $1.4 billion in 2005 to $1.6 billion in 2006, according to analysts. A 3.1% rise in occupied rooms will account for about half of the increase, while a rise in the number of hotels charging the fees will also play a role.
