GI diseases more common among women

GI diseases, some of which can be linked to gynecological problems or hormone changes during pregnancy or menstruation, are more common in women than men. For instance, irritable bowel syndrome mainly affects women ages 30 to 50, and colorectal cancer is the third-leading cause of cancer deaths among U.S. women.
