Award-winning teacher seeking National Board Certification

An Illinois teacher who is applying for National Board Certification has received the Outstanding Beginning Educator Award from the University of Illinois College of Education. "Carrie [Riggins] is one of the most reflective teachers with whom I've worked," said Principal Crystal Vowels. "She's always thinking about how her last lesson went and how she can make the next lesson better. She'll ask me to come in her classroom and give her feedback on how things are going. She collaborates with peers and asks other teachers to give her feedback."
