Bernanke: Small banks may hold large role in turning economy around

Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said that many smaller banks appear healthy enough to continue lending as their larger rivals reduce lending. Mr. Bernanke told the Independent Community Bankers of America "not to let fear drive" decisions. He said the Fed has told bank examiners to urge "economically viable" financial institutions to make loans.
