Congress considers green tech to reduce storm runoff

A congressional subcommittee on water resources heard testimony on the benefits of storm water runoff reduction as a way to reduce combined sewer overflow. Green technology can ease the burden on sewer systems through a multitude of methods. "Simple approaches such as green roofs, increased tree cover, disconnecting downspouts, and adding more green space can go a long way to reducing the amount of storm water that enters sewers," said Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson, D-Texas, chairwoman of the subcommittee.
