Softening prices change game plan for energy producers

Now that the price of oil has fallen to about a third of its peak in 2008, energy-exporting countries, oil and gas producers, and sovereign-wealth funds are forced to cope with the short-term challenges of maintaining financial flexibility and liquidity. In the longer term, when China and India start driving up demand again, the outlook for energy is unquestionably strong.
