The Archdiocese of Baltimore has announced plans to open its first bilingual immersion program. The Spanish-English program will include 40 students in kindergarten and first grade at one elementary school who will be taught by a bilingual teacher, and the program will expand as students move up. "We know that it takes five to six years to acquire proficiency in language," the school's principal said. "By beginning at an early age, we are hoping these students will graduate from here bilingual and biliterate."
